Scheduled Routes

Day 1:

•    Breakfast

•    11:00 am: Guided tour of the VITIS NATURA ORGANIC winery and vineyards. This winery produces wine using processes which are fully organic. This setting, in the middle of the vineyard, and surrounded by local pine and holm oak trees, is perfect for enjoying the culture of wine from a natural and ecological perspective, finding out about all the processes involved in making the wine using renewable energy sources (wind and solar power).

•    We then travel to Alarcón, before enjoying a guided tour of the town in the afternoon.

•    17:30 pm (time to be decided based on the time of year): Guided tour of Alarcón. We will visit the whole of the historic district of this town, and will go inside the most important buildings:

1.    the San Juan Bautista Contemporary Art Centre, home of the Alarcón mural (declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 1997) by the Cuenca artist Jesús Mateo (1971); we have exclusive access as the centre is usually closed outside the season
2.    the parish church of Santa María (declared a National Monument in 1981) to find out about the marvellous renaissance altarpiece, one of the most important in Castille-La Mancha
3.    the Santísima Trinidad church (Site of Cultural Interest, 1981); where we will find out about one of the few churches in Cuenca with a 13th Century Gothic-Norman nave.
4.    and the Castle (now a Parador hotel and a Site of Cultural Interest, 1964) giving exclusive access to the Paseo de Ronda, where we can enjoy the stunning views of the Júcar river gorge and the remains of the Alarcón fortress, some of the best preserved in Spain.

The tour lasts around two hours.

•    Accommodation in a double room in the 3 star Rural Hotel Casa Quintana, in the town of Quintanar del Rey. This hotel beautifully combines cutting edge style and comfort, with a family welcome and professional treatment. Your stay in this hotel is bound to be memorable.

Day 2:
•    Breakfast and check-out

Following the guided tour of the winery, enjoy a home-made, traditional menu from the area: CURED MEATS AND SAUSAGES, TORTILLA, LAMB CHOPS, CHORIZO, PANCETTA, ETC, FINISHING WITH FRUIT, COFFEE AND HOME-MADE LIQUEURS, AND, OF COURSE, ACCOMPANIED BY THE WINERY’S OWN WINES.
