Bodegas y Viñedos Castiblanque

An open space in which tradition, familiarity and artisan work is combined with the most vanguard of wine producing technology, thus turning this ancient cellar into a temple of learning and a meeting place for lovers of wine

The foundations of the ancient 19th century cellar are the basis over which the Castiblanque family has built their viniculture project in the area of Campo de Criptana. They havewisely combined exquisite rehabilitation, conserving the ancient stonewalls, Arab tiles and pine wood interiors, with the latest technological advances to elaborate excellent quality wines. “An open space in which tradition, familiarity and artisan work is combined with the most vanguard of wine producing technology, thus turning this ancient cellar into a temple of learning and a meeting place for lovers of wine”, the founders comment.

Starting this singular initiative has represented an investment surpassing 2 million Euros, which has been completed with 120 hectares of vineyards in which the Garnacha, Tempranillo, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot varieties are cultivated for the elaboration of red wines, along with Airén, Macabeo, Chardonnay and small grained Moscatel varieties for the white wines. The winery also counts with a spectacular tasting room located in the ancient barrel repair workshop, which with its 180m2 is the ideal classroomto learn all about the culture and world of wine. The ageing andmaturing cellar has capacity for 800 oak barrels and 150,000 bottles. If monitoring the ripening of the grape right in the fields is of vital importance at the winery, not less important is the harvest, which takes place during the coolest hours of the day. Thanks to unification of production, elaboration and commercialization tasks within the same company, they can pamper the entire process, thus guaranteeing perfect traceability of the product to thus place wines of the highest quality on themarket. They expect to obtain a production of onemillion liters of redwine and half amillion liters ofwhitewine once thewinery reaches full performance.

However, thiswinery is not limited to the tasks of elaboration and commercialization ofwines, in fact also developing novel activities such as training, an infinity of viniculture, enology and tasting courses, and, how could it be otherwise, wine tourism. In fact, this is the only enterprise in all of Spain that actually complieswith the ISO9001:2000 standard in its three activities (wine, training and tourism). This year the winery also counts with an interesting pilot experience aimed at schools, so that students between the ages of 6 and 12 can participate in workshops at the winery facilities with the aim of bringing them closer to the wine producing process and to promote knowledge and respect for the wine culture.

We offer you, in the environs of our winery, the new forms of tourism that will allow you to get to know Castilla la Mancha, with the aim of allowing you to discover and bring you closer to our land and enjoy its cultural, natural and scenic values.

Winery visit accompanied by “Negrita and Blanquita Castiblanque” discovering elaboration processes including mosto tasting in the tasting room, flavours and bouquets and a didactic guide with vocabulary and culture wine world
