Wineries

Located in the region of La Manchuela, Bodegas Saac Cooperativa de San Antonio Abad, has a great knowledge and experience in the vinicultural industry. This ooperative, situated in the municipality of Villamalea, Albacete began its activity in 1947, and it is nowadays integrated by 1,345 partners. The effort of all of them, together with the continental climatology with Mediterranean influences and the argillo-calcareous ground of the area, have resulted in excellent wines which have made room for themselves in the national and international market, and which have been acknowledged in the most important contests held in the industry.

 

In more than 4,000 hectares of vineyard of the associates, they cultivate the autochthonous varieties of Bobal and Macabeo, which identify them, but they have also incorporated new varieties such as Cencibel, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Verdejo; this allows the winery to diversify the types of wine it commercialises and to have been present for more than ten years in many countries of the European Union. The parcels are cultivated traditionally, guaranteeing a healthy fruit, origin of extraordinary

wines, which are present in the market under the Spanish Denominaciones de Origen Manchuela, Tierra de Castilla, Vinos de España, Vinos de Autor… Bodegas Saac has even an ecological wine, with an excellent acknowledgement, called Flor del Paraíso.

Apart from the restructuring of the vineyards, they have been modernised, introducing new systems of conduction and new production techniques.

 

Recently, the facilities of the winery have also been renewed with the purpose of improving the quality and safety of the products they elaborate, and to make easier the visit of the tourists interested in the world of wine. Besides, Bodegas Saac has an olive oil mill in which an excellent virgin olive oil is processed.

 

In the facilities, guided tours can be made during the whole year, knowing from inside the process of elaboration of wine, going for a walk around the vineyards and enjoying the natural environment in which the winery is built. It has a shop and the possibility to make commented wine tastings directed by specialised staff.
