Wineries

The entrepreneur Ángel Martínez López created Bodegas Martínez Sáez when he purchased the San José Estate with the aim of turning it into a profitable agricultural business. His first concern was to prepare the soil for the planting of the most emblematic varieties of grapes in the world, adapting these to this soil, process that after a few years has indeed born its fruits. The estate counts with a surface of 700 hectares, which are not only occupied by the vineyard, but also by fields of cereals and, more recently, by olive groves. All of this in an area found at 850 meters above sea level.

Construction of the winery concluded in 2001, and it is equipped with the most modern of facilities, with capacity to elaborate up to one million and a half liters of wine. The winery counts with machinery to elaborate wines, including computer temperature control, pneumatic press and acclimatized underground hall in which temperature and humidity act as a regulator for cask fermentation and subsequent bottling. The vineyard is cared for throughout the year to thus achieve grapes of the highest quality. The grape harvest takes place at dawn so that none of the characteristics that are so difficult to obtain will be lost; the same representing an essential factor to satisfy the most demanding of markets. The first wine did not come out on the market until the year 2003, the same a white wine produced from Macabeo grapes.

The following year they also produced a Rosé wine, and in 2005 they decided to launch their red wines, which had been aging in the very best of French, Hungarian and American oak barrels.

These wines are commercialized under the Viña Orce and Martínez Selección Sáez brands.

Included amongst the current objectives of the winery is to obtain the designation of Vinos de Pago (Estate bottled wines) and offer tourist activities such as guided tours of the winery and vineyards, commented tasting sessions or restaurant service.
